Craig White was born on December 16, 1969, in the United States. He represented England as a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler. He was an outstanding all-rounder for England’s cricket team.
Background
After White’s birth, his family relocated to Australia, where he developed his cricketing skills before returning to England. He was the Yorkshire cricket team’s first-ever out-station signing.
Yorkshire had a tradition at the time of only signing cricketers who were born in the county. He began his career as an off-spin bowler before transitioning to fast bowling. For a while, he also appeared for Victoria.
Debut
When England’s Chairman of Selectors, Raymond Illingworth, needed an all-rounder to bat at six, White was selected for the national team.
White made his test debut against New Zealand in 1994. In the same year, he made his One-Day International debut against Australia.
Rise to Glory
He was revived as a cricketer in the year 2000. He returned to the English cricket team after a hiatus and played against the West Indies. On his return, he had a prosperous career.
At numbers seven and eight, he had major hits. He honed his bowling skills and mastered the reverse swing, all while hitting speeds of 90 mph on a fast run-up.

White’s cricket career got off to a rocky start, and he was dropped from the national team. In addition, he struggled with his injuries.

When the English team was playing the Indians in Ahmedabad in 2001, White scored his one and only test century.
In Test cricket, he took 5 wickets twice against the West Indies in Leeds and London in the year 2000.
In the same year, he took 5 wickets against Zimbabwe in an ODI and conceded 21 runs.
Retirement
White’s last appearance for the national team was at the 2003 Cricket World Cup, during which he was forced to retire due to ongoing injuries.
