Virat Kohli scored a century as an Indian against Sri Lanka in 2023 at the inaugural One-Day International held at Guwahati’s Balaspala Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Kohli completed his ODI century for the second year in a row after achieving his one ton against Bangladesh in December 2022, reaching the mark of just his 80th delivery, his third in the format. We were able to end the drought for the year.
Kohli was lucky to receive as many as two lifelines during his innings when a Sri Lankan fielder missed a direct chance. At 34 he fell to 52 and he to 81.

Kohli also scored his ninth ODI century against Sri Lanka. The former Indian captain equaled his own record (vs West Indies – 9) and Tendulkar’s (9th century vs Australia) for most centuries in ODI against a single opponent.
