Cricket match prediction: Rohit Sharma hits ODI 100 for the first time in three years, matching Ponting’s record of the century

Rohit Sharma ended a three-year wait in a one-day international match at India’s third ODI against New Zealand on Tuesday at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.

The Indian captain last scored his century in ODI format against Australia on 19 January 2020 at his M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Rohit achieved his 30th ODI century, matching his third-most century tally in Ricky Ponting’s format. He reached the century mark in just 83 balls, making him his second fastest century in ODI cricket. The 35-year-old broke an impressive record at Indore’s Holkar Cricket Stadium, breaking the 1,101-day drought since the last ODI century. He also recorded his fastest T20I century with just his 35 deliveries against Sri Lanka at that venue in December 2017.

Rohit achieved his second-most centuries in ODI cricket as an opening his player, equaling Sanath Jayasuriya (28,000).

Invited to the first bat by Tom Latham, Rohit scored 212 runs with Shubman Gir in the opening partnership, making it India’s fifth largest opening partnership in a single day.

Gill also scored a century, the 10th time in Indian history both openers scored hundreds of goals. The last time Rohit and KL Rahul scored in the hundreds against the West Indies in Visakhapatnam in 2019.

Rohit eventually claimed a wicket with a low-hold delivery that saw him sacked for 101 in 27 overs and Michael Bracewell tumbled to the stumps.
