Faf du Plessis Bio

Francois Faf du Plessis was born in Pretoria, South Africa, on July 13, 1984. He bats with his right hand and bowls with his right shoulder. He bats in the middle order and plays an important part for his team as a middle order batsman.
Faf du Plessis is the cousin of Namibian rugby star Marcel du Plessis and the son of South African rugby player Francois du Plessis. Faf du Plessis is married and has a daughter with Imari Visser. His sister is married to the South African cricketer Hardus Viljoen.

Records

He is only the second batsman in the history of the game to score a century as a captain in all three formats. He is also the first South African to score centuries in each of the game’s three formats.


With 185 runs, Faf du Plessis is the second highest individual score by a South African cricketer.


Faf du Plessis also holds the record for playing the most innings in international cricket without scoring a duck (108).

Faf du Plessis holds the unbeaten record of being the first batsman to score a century in a Day/Night Test match.
