Australian batsman Travis Head, inspired by England’s bravery in Pakistan, eschewed a conservative approach to spin pitches and entered a Test series against India to dominate the opponent’s bowling attack.
India and Australia will face off in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in his four Tests starting at the opener on 9 February.
“When I saw how England played in Pakistan, perhaps in retrospect, they weren’t positive enough to want to face Spin in that series,” India.
“I feel like I’ve been playing against Spin all through this series. I know it’s completely different in Australia, but the more positive I am, the better I am on my feet and the better I am defending.
“I saw it at speed bowling this summer. Forefoot defense when chasing the ball is probably the best ever and I think you have to go with a positive attitude instead of a defense.
In 2018 and his three series in Asia against Pakistan in 2022 and Sri Lanka last year, Head struggled against slower bowlers.
His past forays into the subcontinent saw him score 213 runs from 11 innings as of 9:30 pm.
“In Pakistan and Sri Lanka, I always have the ball to my name, so I think I was a little defensive,” Head said.
“But it takes a long time to get there, to settle down there, to understand my position, to understand what my role is. It may be a low score, it may be a high score, it may be a big score. , or 40, 50, 60 might be friendly.”
