Sams spent last season with the Delhi Capitals before being sold to RCB ahead of the IPL 2021 player auction.
The 28-year-old all-rounder saw scant action in the previous IPL, appearing in just three games for Delhi.
Within the RCB camp, this was the second Covid positive event. Uncapped opening batsman Devdutt Padikkal tested positive for coronavirus on March 22 and has been in quarantine since then, it was announced on Sunday.
