IPL 2021 : Last Season’s “Super Lions” from Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) agreed to honour their main players’ successes from the previous season before beginning their Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign this year. Faf du Plessis of South Africa and Sam Curran of England were featured in two photos shared on the franchise’s official Instagram account today. They were referred to as the ‘Super Lions’ in the post. MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina of CSK presented a trophy to Du Plessis. Dhoni was joined by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in presenting the award to Curran. According to the post’s caption, “A word of thanks to our Super Lions from last season! Sam Curran (449 runs) and Faf du Plessis (449 runs) (13 wickets). #YellovePodu #WhistlePodu”.

Last year, Du Plessis was a force to be reckoned with. The Yellow Army’s leading run scorer was the South African opener. Du Plessis maintained his consistency throughout the season, slamming 42 boundaries and 14 maximums in 13 matches. The right-hander finished the season with a total of four half-centuries.

In last year’s IPL, Sam Curran took 13 wickets in 14 appearances for CSK. Curran assisted the Chennai-based team not only with the ball, but also with his hard-hitting skills. He hit 12 fours and 12 sixes in his 186-run innings.

On April 10, three-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings will face Delhi Capitals in their first match.
