In what could be a significant development for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the IPL 2024 season, former KKR captain Gautam Gambhir is reportedly in talks to join the team’s support staff.
Gambhir, who led KKR to IPL titles in 2012 and 2014, is a highly respected figure in the franchise’s history. Those two championships are the only titles KKR has won in the history of the league, and his return could bring valuable experience and leadership to the team. The move aims to help KKR end their title drought, which has persisted since 2014.
Currently, Gautam Gambhir is serving as a mentor for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League. However, there are reports suggesting that he may not be available for next year’s IPL due to his potential involvement in the Lok Sabha elections.
Gambhir expressed his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan in a tweet, referring to him as not only the king of Bollywood but also the “king of hearts.” He expressed his deep respect and appreciation for Khan.
Additionally, Lucknow Super Giants have recently parted ways with their head coach, Andy Flower. This decision comes amid reports of discussions between the LSG management and former Australian opener Justin Langer for the head coach position. This suggests further changes and developments in the world of IPL and its franchises as they prepare for the 2024 season.
