In Mohali, India is leading the first of two Test series against Sri Lanka. The Test match is significant since it is Virat Kohli’s 100th appearance in the format. The former India captain was also honoured by the BCCI before to the commencement of the match. Before presenting Kohli with the 100th commemorative hat and a souvenir, head coach Rahul Dravid talked highly of him.

Rishabh Pant, apart from Jadeja, batted well for his 96 runs. Suranga Lakmal castled him late on Day 1 and he lost short on his sixth Test tonne. Hanuma Vihari, who replaced Cheteshwar Pujara at number three in the line-up, also shined with the bat. With the surface being so conducive to batting, India will be looking for early wickets. For the hosts, the spin combination of Ravi Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jayant Yadav will be vital.
