The Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin on March 26 as planned, but although clubs are preparing for the 15th edition, the majority of them do not yet have their key players in the roster.
Following the conclusion of the Ranji Trophy league phase, most IPL players are expected to go to Maharashtra for different training camps. The Indian players were supposed to come on March 12 to begin their practise sessions, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made a move that has several teams upset.
Teams should anticipate their players to be with their respective squads at least two weeks ahead to the commencement of the tournament, but the BCCI’s recent ten-day Bangalore camp, which was attended by over 25 white-ball specialists, will now enable them to join their respective franchises.
The players would be eligible to join on March 15, but because to the three-day quarantine period for IPL participation, the date might be pushed out to March 18 for the big names, causing them to miss a lot of activity.
Franchises have complained to IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel and CEO Hemang Amin over the “denial of contractual right to have access to the players two weeks prior to the commencement of the league,” according to Cricbuzz. This problem has also caused a schism between BCCI sources and franchisees.
Bangalore’s camp:
According to reports, the franchise and BCCI sources have agreed to shorten the three-day quarantine period for the players who would be attending the Bangalore camp.
The players will experience a similar bio bubble atmosphere in Bangalore during their last five days before entering the IPL bio bubble. By March 15, the players will be able to join their own franchise’s bio bubble.
The BCCI has organised a Bangalore camp for chosen white-ball players to assign duties and responsibilities ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Under the direction of the head coach and the selection committee, the camp will take place.
