Ane Williamson was signed by the Gujarat Titans for Rs 20 crore at the IPL 2023 auction in Kochi on Friday.
The 2022 winning team was the only team to bid for a New Zealand player.
Williamson was released by Sunrisers his Hyderabad after just one season after the franchise signed him for his Rs 1.4 crore. He appeared in his 76 games with the team and contributed to their 2016 title win.
He played 76 games in the tournament, scoring 2,101 goals with an average of over 36 and a batting average of 126.03. Earlier this month, Williamson announced he was stepping down as New Zealand’s test captain, but will continue to lead in two short forms. He scored his 85 runs on 48 balls in the title match against Australia.
For New Zealand, Williamson averages 33.29 and strikes his rate he is 123.01.
