IPL fixtures today : Jagadeesan is going to KKR for Rs ninety lakh in IPL auction

Jagadeesan was one of eight players released by CSK ahead of the December 23rd auction. The right-handed hitter is the only man to record five consecutive List A tons.

Tamil Nadu batsman N Jagadeesan was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 9 lakh at the IPL auction in Kochi on Friday.

Jagadeesan was one of his eight players released by CSK ahead of the Dec. 23 auction.

List A Ton 5 consecutive hits are only for right-handed hitters. So far, Jagadeesan has played only 7 games in his IPL and batting average has stayed in his 4 games, while in CSK he has scored 73 runs and batting average he is 110.61.

Jagadeesan had success in the Tamil Nadu Premier League where he played with the Chepauk Super Gillies. Last season he hit 336 runs in 10 innings with a strike rate of 125.37, the third most in the tournament. Earlier this year in a mega-auction he was sold to CSK for a base price of 20 lakh INR.

Jagadeesan’s 277 of his 141 balls set a world record against Arunachal his Pradesh at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It was his highest single score in men’s List A cricket. The previous record was his 268 for Alistair Brown against Glamorgan in 2002. Jagadeesan’s 277 is also the highest score of any List A cricket list, not surpassed by Sri Wirakodi vs. Pushpadana Ladies’ 271 in the 2007 Sri Lanka Women’s One Day Tournament.
