Former Indian spinner and former national team coach Sunil Joshi has been appointed spin bowling coach for the Punjab Kings ahead of the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Joshi, who until recently represented the South Zone on the Senior National Selection Committee, will work with Trevor Bayliss, the new head coach of the Punjab Kings.
After disappointing games in the past few seasons, the Punjab team parted ways with head coach Anil Kamble. In the last edition of the tournament, Punjab placed 6th out of his 10 teams.
A left-arm spinner, Joshi played 110 wickets in India between 1996 and 2001. He appeared in 15 Tests and his 69 ODIs. Although he continued to play in domestic cricket, Joshi quit ten years ago and turned to coaching.
He has worked with the Bangladesh team and other national teams before taking up the post of national selector in 2020.
