Liam Plunkett Bio

Liam Plunkett is an English cricketer who was born in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, on April 6th, 1985. He is mostly a right-arm medium bowler who also bats right-handed.

Background

When Liam was younger, he attended Nunthorpe Comprehensive. From a young age, he displayed a keen interest in cricket, which led to his acceptance into domestic cricket.

England, Dolphins, Durham, Durham 2nd XI, Durham Cricket Board, England Tigers, England Under-19s, Sylhet Sixers, and Yorkshire were among the teams he represented.

In 2008, he was a member of the Durham team that won the County Championship for the first time in their history.

Debut

Plunkett made his Test debut against Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium on November 29, 2005, followed by his ODI debut at the same venue on December 10, 2005, and his T20 debut against Sri Lanka at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on June 15, 2006.

Plunkett got off to a good start in the Test, taking three wickets for 51 runs against Pakistan.

However, his performance in India in 2005-06 was mostly unimpressive, as he only took one wicket and scored one run in two innings.

Rise to Glory

Plunkett returned to international cricket in 2014 after a time of anonymity, and soon established himself as a regular in the England team.

Plunkett has once again been England’s go-to bowler in limited-overs cricket, despite failing to perform to expectations in the Test format.

In the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, which was held in England, he was the team’s leading wicket-taker.

Plunkett has also made a few valuable contributions with the bat since his return, with his power-hitting lower down the order complementing the ball-striking ability of those ahead of him in the batting order.

Low Points

Plunkett’s output has been inconsistent in many of his seasons. He has spent the most of his time on the bench for the first half of the season.

Owing to drinking and driving, he was barred from driving for 20 months in February 2007. He was accused of a second crime in 2012 and sentenced to 40 months in jail.

Club Career

Plunkett was a member of the Durham County Cricket Club, the Dolphins, Yorkshire County Cricket Club, and the Sylhet Sixers cricket clubs.

In English county cricket, he actually plays for Yorkshire.

Records

On November 27, 2015, Plunkett was named Man of the Match in a T20 match against Pakistan.
