Lucknow Super Giants Match Prediction : Suresh Raina Drops Clues About Mentorship Role with Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina, a stalwart for both the Indian national team and the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, has suggested the possibility of joining the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a mentor for the upcoming IPL 2024 season. Raina, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, retired from the IPL after the 2022 edition and has since been active as a commentator.

The 37-year-old’s potential return to the IPL took a new twist when he responded to a tweet dismissing rumors of his mentorship role with LSG as fake news. In his reply, Raina cryptically remarked, “Why? Your news can’t be right all the time?” hinting at a potential comeback to the IPL in a support staff capacity.

Gautam Gambhir, another former Indian cricketer, previously served as the mentor for LSG in their initial two editions after making their IPL debut. However, ahead of IPL 2024, Gambhir has returned to his former franchise, the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Raina, regarded as one of the IPL’s greatest batsmen, holds the fifth position in the all-time highest run-scorers list, amassing 5528 runs in 238 innings at an average of 32.51 and a strike rate of 136.73, including one century and 39 fifties.

Having experienced significant success with the Chennai Super Kings, winning four IPL titles under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Raina also captained the Gujarat Lions in IPL 2016 and 2017, leading them to the playoffs in their debut season.

Beyond his IPL achievements, Raina holds the distinction of being the first Indian batsman to score centuries in all three formats of international cricket. His crucial contributions in the 2011 World Cup played a pivotal role in India’s success, including vital knocks against Australia and Pakistan in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.
