On October 3, CWI booked him a trip from Guyana to New York. Hetmyer let CWI know that he wouldn’t be able to make it to the airport in time to catch the trip. He would thus be absent for the first T20 on October 5.

Hetmyer would have been in Australia in time for the West Indies’ World Cup campaign, it should be stressed. On October 17, Scotland will be the opponent in the first-round encounter for West Indies. But in light of that, the CWI selection committee made the decision to leave Shimron Hetmyer out of the team entirely.

The Selection Panel unanimously agreed to replace Shimron Hetmyer with Shamarh Brooks in our T20 World Cup team, we notified the CWI Board of Directors this afternoon.

For the India series, he was summoned back. He did not, however, have a terrific run. Additionally, he struggled at home against New Zealand. Hetmyer ended with 281 runs in 11 matches at the just completed CPL 2022, with an average of only 25.54 and a strike rate of 124.33.
