Young pace sensation Mayank Yadav delivered the fastest ball of the IPL 2024 season, marking a memorable debut for the Lucknow Super Giants. His exceptional performance played a significant role in leading his team to a convincing 21-run victory over the Punjab Kings in Lucknow on Saturday.
Mayank, a right-arm fast bowler, grabbed attention with impressive figures of 3/27, which shifted the momentum in favor of Lucknow after Punjab seemed to be cruising towards a 200-run chase. His remarkable pace was evident as he clocked a speed of 155.8 km/hr while bowling to Punjab skipper Shikhar Dhawan.
Mayank’s impactful debut included crucial wickets, dismissing Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh, and Jitesh Sharma to derail Punjab’s chase. Upon receiving the Player of the Match award, Mayank revealed that any nervousness he felt vanished after delivering his first ball.
He emphasized his strategy to remain composed and focus on bowling accurately towards the stumps while utilizing his pace to full effect.
