Diana Baig’s injury woes continued and the Pakistani right-hander was quickly sidelined from the upcoming Women’s T20 World Championships.
Baig, who recently recovered from her shoulder injury, broke the index finger of her bowling hand in her second ODI on Saturday against Australia. She will be replaced by Pakistani batsman Sadaf Shamas for the remainder of the series and the Women’s T20 World Championships, which begin next month.
Shamas had previously been called up as a substitute for the Pakistani squad for her T20 World Cup in South Africa. She will be drafted to the main team while Baig is advised to take a break of at least four weeks. The right-hander Shamas has been impressive in recent ODIs, scoring 72 against Ireland and 30 against Australia on Friday, averaging 35 in three innings. However, she has yet to play her T20I.
