Colin Munro has signed with Knotts Outlaws as a foreign player for Vitality Blast 2023.
A native of New Zealand, his 35-year-old top-flight left-hander Munroe has been part of his Rockets squad to win the Men’s 100 title in 2022.
He tallied his 62 T20I innings over his three centuries, his all-time strike rate at 156.44 and his 123 appearances in all formats for New Zealand. Munro is also his 12th highest runs scorer in T20 history with 9,195 runs.
“I saw firsthand how deeply the crowd supported the Rockets last summer, and I was fortunate enough to be able to play the Outlaws at home,” Munro said. “I am joining a team that plays an aggressive brand of cricket that suits my style and scoring preferences.I came here hoping to add my experience to an already well-oiled machine. I have.”
Munro last season with the Rockets, he averaged 41.2 and batted 168.85, with 206 runs in nine games. Alongside his hundred and previous spells in cricket, the Durban-born Munroe has experience in the IPL, PSL, Big Bash and CPL, having played in the past two. He has won three tournament titles and has competed in a total of 365 shorts in his format around the world.
Nottinghamshire head coach Peter Moores described Munro as “a quality player”.
“We talked a lot about Dan (Christian) and what he brought to us: experience, quality, positive and dynamic style of play,” Moores said. “In the same group is Colin, who has organized his game and plays T20 cricket around the world, joining the likes of Alex Hales.
“We are aware of the fact that Ben [Duckett] has done really well with England and it is quite possible that we will miss him for part of the summer. That will ensure we have a wealth of experience available. He’s one of the reasons I wanted to hire Colin because of that.”
