The West Indies have recalled veteran fast bowler Shannon Gabriel for Zimbabwe’s next tour after Jaden Shields’ knee injury. We’ve strengthened our testing roster.
Shields was recovering from knee surgery and was not considered for selection. Anderson Phillippe also missed due to injury. Shammer Brooks has been dropped from the team. Gabriel will play his last friendly against Sri Lanka in November 2021, having played 56 friendly matches. He was the leading wicket taker in his Red Force Super 50 Cup in Trinidad and Tobago last November. Worikan last played in the West Indies of the same series in Sri Lanka, while Moti, who made his debut against Bangladesh in June 2022, has another try.
Reid his selector Desmond Haynes said: “Our fast bowler, Shields has worked very well for us since we started in 2021, but given his unavailability, we believe Gabriel can best fill the role. I made a judgment. “He (Gabriel) is a veteran bowler who has been at the international level for over ten years and knows what it was like when he won Zimbabwe in 2017.”

The West Indies will do his two tests in Zimbabwe. Both will be at Queen’s Sports Club in Bulawayo, with the first test starting on his February 4th. According to Cricket West Indies, the West Indies will play a three-day warm-up match against his local Bulawayo Athletic Club from 28-30 January.
