Shaheen Afridi Bio

Shaheen Shah Afridi is a Pakistani cricketer who is widely known as one of the country’s tallest bowlers. He’s often considered as one of the few players capable of consistently bowling at 90 mph.

Shaheen Afridi was born in Landi Kotal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, on April 6, 2000. He batters with his left hand and bowls with his left. He is mainly a bowler for the squad, but he is also an aspiring all-rounder.

Records

At the age of 19, Shaheen Afridi holds the record for being the youngest player to take a five-wicket haul in a World Cup. With figures of 6/35 against Bangladesh cricket team in the 2019 ICC World Cup, he accomplished this. He also holds the record for the best bowling figures by a Pakistani bowler in his First-Class debut, with 8/39.

Career

Domestic career

On the advice of his brother, Riaz Afridi, Shaheen began playing cricket at the age of 15 when he joined FATA in Pakistan. His success won him a spot in the Pakistan U16 team for the November 2015 tour of Australia, where he took four wickets in three matches.

Even before making his debut for Khan Research Laboratories in 2017, he represented Pakistan in the U19 Asia Cup. Later, for Baluchistan, he made his List A debut.

International Career

Shaheen made his One Day International debut against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi on September 21, 2018. In the match, he took two wickets as Pakistan beat Afghanistan by three wickets. In One Day Internationals, he has two 4-wicket hauls and one 5-wicket haul, for a total of 40 wickets in 19 matches.

On December 3, 2018, Shaheen Afridi made his Test debut against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi. Shaheen claimed three wickets in the match, which New Zealand won by 123 runs. He has 25 wickets in seven matches so far, including one 5-wicket haul.

Shaheen Afridi made his T20I debut against the West Indies in Karachi on 3 April 2018. He had a rocky start to his career, but by the end of the season, he was on the winning side. In ten games, he has 14 wickets and his best bowling figures are 3/20.

Club Career

Shaheen Afridi is a Bangladesh Premier League player for the Dhaka Gladiators. He also plays in the Pakistan Super League for the Lahore Qalandars.

Family

Riaz Afridi’s younger brother, Shaheen, made his debut for Pakistan in 2004. He is a Pashtun from the Afridi tribe and is Yasir Afridi’s nephew.
