Smriti Mandhana, the Indian women’s cricket team’s opener, has 4 million Instagram followers. The cricketer made the announcement via Instagram Stories. Smriti hit the landmark on the same day she made her T20 International debut eight years ago, which made it much more memorable. Poonam Yadav and Sushma Verma, both India cricketers, made their debuts in the match against Bangladesh in 2013. Smriti opened the batting and put up a 53-run partnership with Mona Meshram for the first wicket. She was India’s highest scorer, with a quickfire 39 points.

“Glad to have reached this landmark the same day I made my T20 debut 8 years ago,” Smriti wrote on Instagram Stories on Tuesday.

Smriti is very popular on social media, sharing game updates, pictures of home cooking sessions, and family time, among other things.

Smriti has been a standout performer for India since her debut. When she made her debut, the left-hander was just 17 years old. The 24-year-career old’s has only gotten better. Though she has 1,782 runs at an average of 25.45 in T20Is, she has over 2,000 runs at an average of 42.58 in ODIs.

In terms of fastest 2000 ODI runs, she is only second to cricketer Shikhar Dhawan. She holds the record for the fastest 50 for India in women’s T20Is, scoring it in just 24 balls.

Smriti established a new world record a few weeks back when she became the first-ever cricketer to make 10 consecutive 50-plus scores in ODI cricket while chasing in a three-match series against South Africa. Smriti has scored over 50 runs in every ODI chase for India since 2018.
