Stuart Christopher John Broad is an English cricketer who represents England in Tests and One-Day Internationals. He was born in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England, on June 24, 1986.
Stuart bowls for the team as a right-arm fast bowler and is renowned for his ability to generate bounce even on the most mild surfaces.
Background
Stuart’s career began with a team affiliated with his high school. In 2008, he was moved to Nottinghamshire, the county where he was born.
He rose quickly in his career, winning the Cricket Writers’ Club Young Cricketer of the Year award in 2006. As a result, he drew the interest of the selectors and was almost guaranteed a spot on the national team.
Debut
In 2006, Broad made his international debut against Pakistan. He did reasonably well in a T20 series, only missing out on a hattrick.
On 30 August 2006, he played his first one-day international against Pakistan, and on 9 December 2007, he played his first test against Sri Lanka.
Rise to glory
Broad’s career was turned around in the sixth ODI of the series against India in 2007, when he and Ravi Bopara shared a record partnership for the eighth wicket of 99 runs. He also took four wickets and was named Man of the Match for the first time.
In the first session of an Ashes test in 2015, one of the highest performances was used. He took eight wickets and only gave up 15 runs.
Low points
During his career, he has also faced several obstacles. One of the most difficult periods of his career came in the early days of the 2007 World T20, when he was struck for six sixes by Yuvraj Singh in the 19th over of the tournament.
Club Career
Stuart has played for the Hobart Hurricanes and Leicestershire throughout the course of his career. He was moved from Leicestershire to Nottinghamshire and has still been dedicated to the squad.
He had his best figures of the season against Warwickshire, taking 8 wickets for 52 runs. In the Indian Premier League, he was also purchased by Kings XI Punjab.
Captaincy
Stuart was appointed captain of the national team for the first time in 2014. He was chosen to lead the squad on the West Indies tour as well as the T20 World Cup.
The squad won the ODI series but lost in the T20 series and at the World Cup. He led the English side 27 times between 2011 and 2015.
Records
He doesn’t have a lot of major hits to his credit. His hat-tricks in Test cricket are two of his most notable accomplishments.
The first was in 2011 against India, and the second was in 2014 against Sri Lanka. He is also the first bowler to take a 10-wicket haul at Lord’s since Ian Botham.
