To everyone’s surprise, the Melbourne Stars came dangerously close to defeating the Perth Scorchers in their most recent encounter.
When Perth proceeded to bat, the wickets began to pile up and it seemed as if Melbourne may pull off the unexpected. The Stars batted first and produced a very ordinary total of 110 runs. Perth battled back, however, and triumphed with only two balls left.
The Stars must be hurting, but the good news is that they could have had the opportunity to knock out the WBBL’s top club as recently as a few minutes ago.
Even though the team’s greatest player is opening hitter Lauren Winfield-Hill, she exited the Perth game with no runs. She is much too skilled to get two ducks in a row, therefore it’s doubtful it will happen again.
Tess Flintoff’s 40 runs were a great surprise since she is typically a fast bowler and isn’t renowned for her hitting (previous totals this season were 3 and 6 runs, respectively).
