Test Match Predictions : Dean Elgar’s Unbeaten 140 Puts South Africa in Driver’s Seat on Day 2, Taking Lead

South Africa asserted their dominance in the ongoing Boxing Day Test against India on the second day, displaying smart, calculated, and brilliant batting. Dean Elgar, the former Proteas Test captain playing in his final series, showcased his prowess by smashing his 14th century in the format and remaining unbeaten on 140 at the stumps, with South Africa taking an 11-run lead.

The day started with India adding 37 runs to their overnight score of 208, thanks to KL Rahul’s impressive performance in challenging conditions. Rahul played aggressively and adapted well to the challenging conditions, guiding India to a total of 245. While not a formidable score, it provided something for the bowlers to work with.

In the second half of the day, the pitch flattened out, and the ball did not offer much movement. This allowed South African batters to take control and punish the Indian bowlers. Despite Mohammed Siraj making an early breakthrough by dismissing Aiden Markram, Dean Elgar anchored the innings and held firm.

Tony de Zorzi and debutant David Bedingham ensured that India did not regain control, despite losing wickets at times. Bedingham’s debut performance was a highlight, showcasing assured footwork, impressive shotmaking, and solid defense. His effortless display made it seem like he was not exerting much effort, contributing to South Africa’s dominant position in the match.
