The New Zealand Women’s team lost a nail-biter in the first match by the tiniest of margins, although they did not play badly. New Zealand’s batting performance was outstanding, demonstrating the depth of its batting. Sophie Devine hit a century, but none of the other batters scored as many runs as they should have. Amelia Kerr had been in fantastic form leading up to the event, but she had been beaten cheaply in the previous match.

To be honest, this isn’t something we expected from Bangladesh, but the bowling lineup’s success in the previous match shows that they can’t be ignored.
Bangladesh’s batting line-up is thin and inexperienced. It did get to a point where it could have pushed for a win, but once the opening partnership was broken, the rest of the batting fell apart.
Bangladesh, we believe, will continue to struggle in this area. Its batting isn’t good enough to compete with New Zealand’s.
