The 12th match of the Pakistan Super League’s sixth season, between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators, has been postponed by a few hours in Karachi.
The match, which was originally scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM (PKT), will now begin at 9:00 PM (PKT) (PKT). In terms of the start time in India, it will be at 9:30 p.m. (IST). The news was published less than an hour before the planned start time.
The match has been postponed after Islamabad spinner Fawad Ahmed tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The other United players were screened for COVID-19 after the 39-year-old player started to exhibit signs a few days earlier. Everyone else has been tested negative and cleared to play this match, which is a huge relief.
Ahmed thanked his followers for their positive comments about his wellbeing on the social media site Twitter. Ahmed had bowled figures of 4-0-40-1 in his lone appearance this season, which came against Peshwar Zalmi last week.
The PSL 2021 match between Islamabad and Quetta has been rescheduled for tomorrow.
The PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has agreed to postpone the match by one day in order to prioritise the wellbeing of all stakeholders. Tomorrow was expected to be a rest day in PSL 2021, but that will not be the case as United and Gladiators will face off at the National Stadium.
The match will begin at 7:00 p.m., as is customary (local). In terms of stadium entrance fares, the same tickets will be available tomorrow as well.
