BBL Predictions : Thunder Beaten By Heat Despite Milestones For Sams And Hales

Brisbane Heat emerged victorious at the Gabba despite notable performances from Daniel Sams and Alex Hales. In pursuit of 173 for victory following a Heat collapse, the Thunder’s chase began swiftly but faltered in the second half, ultimately falling 16 runs short.

Daniel Sams showcased another outstanding performance, following his four-wicket over against Melbourne Stars, as the Heat lost seven wickets for just 16 runs, collapsing from 4-156 to 172 all out. The 31-year-old achieved the best figures for the Thunder in the Men’s Big Bash League, securing 5/30, marking his first five-wicket haul in the BBL and his personal best figures in the shortest format.

In response, Alex Hales and Cameron Bancroft provided a solid opening platform for the Thunder. Hales, scoring 28 off 22, became the Thunder’s leading run-scorer in all editions of the men’s Big Bash League. Bancroft, consistent in his performances, reached 46 before falling to the first ball of the Power Surge. Despite their efforts, the Heat’s regular wickets disrupted the Thunder’s momentum, leading to Heat’s victory.

The Thunder, led by Chris Green, will now return home to face the Sydney Sixers on Saturday, December 30, with just under 2,000 public tickets remaining for the highly anticipated fixture.
