Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer has joined the pre-season training camp ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024. Iyer recently featured in the Ranji final, where his team Mumbai clinched the trophy for the 42nd time.
Despite his notable innings of 95 runs in the final, Iyer was sidelined due to persistent back pain. Speculation arose that he might miss the initial IPL matches. However, KKR shared a reassuring video showcasing Iyer’s fitness, confirming his leadership role from the opening match.
In addition to Iyer, mentor Gautam Gambhir has also joined the franchise camp, adding to the anticipation for the upcoming tournament. Under Gambhir’s leadership, KKR secured two IPL titles.
KKR’s recent IPL campaigns fell short of reaching the playoffs. In the IPL 2024 Player Auction, held in Dubai last year, they invested Rs 24.75 crore to acquire the services of Australia’s renowned left-arm fast bowler, Mitchell Starc.
