Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have appointed Phil Salt as a replacement for his compatriot Jason Roy, who withdrew from the upcoming 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) due to personal reasons.
Salt, entering his second IPL season, remained unsold in the auction after representing the Delhi Capitals last year. Acquired at his base price of INR 1.5 crore, the dynamic wicket-keeper batsman from England garnered attention with two back-to-back T20I centuries against the West Indies in December, including a 48-ball century in the 4th T20I at Trinidad, which is also the joint-fastest for England.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Salt stated, “It feels great. I’ve joined on relatively short notice, but the warm reception from everyone has been outstanding. Moreover, the opportunity to train at an iconic venue like the Eden Gardens and be part of such a successful franchise is truly exciting.”
