When questioned why he works in the Indian Premier League (IPL) despite being an MP for the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in the East Delhi Constituency, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir responded appropriately.
Prior to the IPL 2022 season, Gambhir became a mentor for one of the two new franchises, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Before falling to Royal Challengers Bangalore, they finished third and qualified for the Eliminator.

Gambhir was asked about his constant affiliation with the cash-rich league, whether as an analyst, a commentator, or a direct relationship with a franchise, at a press conference following the season’s completion.
“I commentate on IPL or work in it because every month I spend INR 25 lakh to feed 5000 people.” This works out to almost 2.75 crores every year. I’ve also invested INR 25 lakh in the construction of a library.”
“I paid for everything out of my own wallet, not from the MPLAD fund.” The MPLAD grant does not support my kitchen or other activities. At the press conference, Gambhir added, “I don’t have a tree in my house where I can pluck money either.”

Gambhir stated that all he has done has been for the benefit of the people, and that he has no qualms about stating that he is a part of the IPL because his purpose is to assist others financially.
“I can only feed those 5000 people and build that library because I work.” I have no qualms about announcing and working in the IPL. “Everything I do has an end aim,” he explained.
