Cricketzine prediction: Mickey Arthur set to return as Pakistan coach, according to PCB boss

Pakistan’s cricket committee president Najam Sethi said on Monday that Mickey Arthur will return as head coach.

Former crackpot Sakrin Mushtak has reportedly opted out of extending his coaching contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and Sethi is keen to get Arthur back.

“I have personally negotiated with Mickey and have resolved 90% of the issues,” Sethi said at a press conference.

“We hope to share the news that Mickey is joining us soon.”

“When he comes here, I want him to build his own coaching team.”

A former coach of South Africa, Australia and Sri Lanka, Arthur was in charge of the Pakistani team from 2016 to 2019, winning the 2017 Champions Trophy and becoming the top ranked T20 team in the world.

The Johannesburg-born 54-year-old is currently on a long-term contract with Derbyshire. Sethi also named former hitter Harun Rashid as chief selector to replace former all-rounder Shahid Afridi, who held the post on an interim basis.
