Hashmatullah Shahidi Bio

Hashmatullah Shahidi, also known as Hashmat Shahidi, is an Afghan professional cricketer. The 24-year-old was born in Logar, Afghanistan, on November 4, 1994. He bats left-handed and bowls right-arm off-break. He is mainly used as a top-order batsman in the side.

Career

Shahidi started his cricket career with the Pakistan Under-17 team. At the age of 16, he was called to Afghanistan’s squad for the 2010 Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand.

On September 30, 2013, he made his T20I debut against Kenya in what has been his only T20I match to date. In October of 2013, he made his ODI debut for Afghanistan against Kenya. A year later, in 2014, he was a member of Afghanistan’s Under-19 team, which beat Sri Lanka and Australia. He was named to Afghanistan’s first full tour of Zimbabwe as a result of his outstanding results.

His 163-run innings in the final of the 2017-18 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament, batting for Band-e-Amir Region against Speen Ghar Region, was the highlight of his first-class career. On 14 June 2018, he made his Test debut against India in Afghanistan’s first-ever Test match. With an undefeated 36, he was the top scorer for his side in the second innings of the match.

He was picked for Afghanistan’s one-off match against Ireland in India in February 2019. He was named in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup two months later, in April.
