Rahmat Shah Bio

Rahmat Shah Zurmatai is an Afghan cricketer who plays international cricket for the Afghanistan Men’s National Cricket Team. Rahmat Shah is a right-handed bowler who specialises in leg-breaks. In June 2018, he was one of eleven cricketers who took part in Afghanistan’s first-ever Test match against India. In April 2019, Rahmat Shah took over as the team’s new Test captain, succeeding Asghar Afghan. Rahmat was born in the Afghan town of Zurmat, in the province of Paktia, on July 6, 1993.

International Career

When Rahmat Shah was called to a host of first-class and One-Day International squads for Afghanistan, he got his first taste of international cricket. On March 6, 2013, he made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Afghanistan against Scotland. In 2018, he made his test debut against India.

Domestic Career

In domestic cricket, Shah represents Mis Ainak Region. He scored 258 runs in five matches and had eight dismissals in the 2018 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament. On September 12, 2017, Rahmat Shah made his Twenty20 debut for Band-e-Amir Dragons in the 2017 Shpageeza Cricket League.

Rahmat Shah was selected to Afghanistan’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup in April of this year.
