Rishabh Pant was praised by Sam Billings, who will play for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, Pant will captain the team.
England batsman Sam Billings has praised his skipper Rishabh Pant, saying the 23-year-old is potentially the greatest young talent he has ever seen, ahead of the Indian Premier League 2021 season. Billings, who played for the Delhi franchise in the IPL in 2016 and 2017, returned to the Delhi camp after being acquired for Rs 2 crore in the IPL auction in February. In 187 T20I matches, the English wicketkeeper-batsman has scored 3,527 runs, taken 107 catches, and effected 17 stumpings, and he expressed his enthusiasm to be a member of the Delhi Capitals squad for the 2021 season.
“It’s wonderful to return to the IPL. The community of players is fantastic, and the DC camp has been very friendly. I’m very glad to be here “In a statement issued by the Delhi Capitals, he said.
Billings, who spent a lot of time with Pant during his previous tenure with the club, remembered his first time seeing him bat.
“I recall seeing Rishabh perform for the first time. “Who is this guy?” I asked Rahul Dravid (then Delhi franchise mentor) during a middle practise session when he was targeting bowlers like Chris Morris, Nathan Coulter-Nile, and a slew of other bowlers everywhere. We all know who Rishabh Pant is now, and I said back then that he’s potentially the best young player I’ve ever seen. We’ve seen what he can do in both the India and Delhi shirts on a daily basis. I am extremely pleased for him, and I am sure that he will continue to improve “Billings said.
With the Delhi Capitals, the 29-year-old hopes to win the IPL 2021 this year.
“The IPL is one of my favourite sports leagues. It’s one of the best tournaments in the country, and the hype about the IPL is something you can’t find everywhere else, so I’m looking forward to returning to the tournament. After my last appearance for Delhi, my game has greatly improved. Hopefully, we will be able to rally as a team and win the competition this year “he said
