Trevor Bayliss, the head coach of England that won the 2019 World Cup, has been chosen to lead Punjab Kings in place of former Indian great Anil Kumble, the Indian Premier League team said on Friday. (Also in Cricket)
“It is an honour for me to serve as the Punjab Kings’ head coach. a successful franchise built on a solid basis. I’m excited to work with a talented group of athletes that are eager to fight for hardware,” Bayliss stated in a press release.
In addition to winning the World Cup, Bayliss also won the Big Bash with Sydney Sixers and two IPL championships with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012 and 2014.
In addition, Bayliss led Sunrisers Hyderabad during the 2020 and 2021 IPL seasons. Punjab Kings had missed the IPL play-offs three times in a row while Kumble was their coach.
