IPL 2023: IND vs SL: ‘Let him rush to his IPL’ – Twitter reacts to his missing ODI from Sri Lanka on his Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumra will not play in the three-game ODI series against Sri Lanka, which starts on Tuesday.

The decision was taken not to rush him into action, according to sources with the Indian Cricket Control Board (BCCI). He has not yet arrived in Guwahati, where his first ODI will take place.

Bumrah, 29, was selected for ODI on the recommendation of the All India Selection Committee, according to his previous BCCI statement. According to his BCCI media statement on March 3, pacer Jasprit Bumla has died. Bumrah has not played cricket since September 2022 and has missed the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup due to a back problem. He will join Team India’s ODI team shortly,” BCCI said.

It is not yet known if BCCI will issue a formal notice. The selector reportedly leaves the decision of whether or not to use Bumrah to the team admins, who are acting at their own discretion. Sources say he could face New Zealand in the Whiteball Series starting January 18. Bumrah returned home in the T20I series against Australia, playing in two of the three matches before being ruled out again.

Bumla remains in the national team, but other players from the Indian squad, including skipper Rohit Sharma, vice-captain KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Ayer, have joined Guwahati’s squad.

His three ODIs between India and Sri Lanka will take place on 10th January (Guwahati), 12th January (Kolkata) and 15th January (Thiruvananthapuram).

India’s updated squad for Sri Lanka ODIs: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya (VC), Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh.
