In significant news for cricket enthusiasts and the Delhi Capitals franchise, especially, Captain Rishabh Pant has received clearance to participate in IPL 2024. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) reportedly issued Pant a clearance certificate, clearing the path for his inclusion in the tournament. Previous concerns had arisen regarding Pant’s fitness status for IPL 2024, with reports indicating that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had withheld clearance due to fitness concerns. Dainik Bhaskar had also reported Pant’s potential unavailability for IPL participation.
However, a recent report from SportsTak suggests that Pant has been given the green light by the NCA, indicating his promising availability for IPL 2024, which is positive news for both the Delhi Capitals and the Indian cricket team. With the T20 World Cup scheduled after IPL 2024, Pant’s potential availability could hold significant implications for team selection considerations.
Sourav Ganguly, DC’s director of cricket, recently emphasized the team’s cautious approach towards Pant’s return.
“He has put in the effort to regain fitness, and that’s why the NCA will clear him. Let Rishabh be cleared on Mar 5, and then we’ll discuss captaincy backups. We are taking a careful approach with him because he has a long career ahead of him. We don’t want to rush him back prematurely. We will observe Rishabh’s progress. Once the NCA gives him clearance, he will join the camp. We will assess his performance match by match. We cannot make predictions,” Ganguly stated.
