Rohit Sharma and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are two of the most successful captains in the Indian Premier League. Rohit won his IPL title five times, the most by the Mumbai Indians as a skipper, while Dhoni led the Chennai Super Kings to his four trophies so far. In international cricket, Dhoni is widely regarded as one of the greatest captains of all time. He has led India to victory in all his major ICC tournaments. Rohit, meanwhile, will assume a permanent captaincy role in international cricket in late 2021, leading the team to the semi-finals of his T20 World Cup last year.
Still, his Rohit stats as IPL captain remain exemplary, and in a JIOCinema video, a host of former Indian cricketers sat down to discuss the Indian captain in detail. Host Aakash Chopra started a conversation about MS Dhoni and other former cricketers – Suresh Raina, Parthiv Patel, Rudra Pratap Singh and Robin Uthappa – and praised Dhoni’s skill as captain.
Chopra explained that once the wicket-keeper batsman enters the field, the player seems to want to play for Dhoni.Former Indian weirdo Pragyan Ojha made a rather unusual comment on this. “You made a good point, but the players don’t want him to play for Rohit?” asked Ojha. Chopra, slightly taken aback by this question, replied, “I don’t know. Do you feel it more with Rohit than with Dhoni?
Ojha revealed that he believes Rohit and Dhoni’s approaches are similar.
“I say as a bowler, they are both similar. Team his dhoni his bye record in India is completely different and should be saved until the IPL. Rohit is just starting his career as captain. I’ve been through it when we talk about his IPL,” he said Ojha.
Rohit will return as India’s captain next month for a four-game Test when he faces Australia in the series. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni will be competing in the 2023 edition of India in his Premier L against the Chennai Super Kings.
