KS Bharat Bio

KS Bharat’s enthusiasm for cricket began when he was only four years old. He spent much of his youth playing cricket on the streets and on his balcony.

Kona Srikar Bharat was taking a ring-side view inside the cricket stadiums while most of his age group was watching cricket on tv. At the moment, he was just eight years old. As a ball boy at cricket grounds, KS Bharat observed many glory moments in Indian cricket history.

His mum, too, did not waste much time in enrolling him in the cricket training centre. He put in strong results at the junior level, and at the age of ten, he was named to the under-13 side.

KS Bharat witnessed Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s carnage against Pakistan in the second ODI of the series when sitting on the fence as a ball boy at Vishakhapatnam in 2005. His 148-run innings motivated KS Bharat, then 11 years old, to fulfil his dream of being a top-level cricketer.

KL Bharat made quick progress in junior cricket, making his Ranji debut for Andhra Pradesh at the age of 19. In 2012, he made his Ranji debut against Kerala. Bharat had only held wickets in two games before making his debut as a wicket-keeper batsman. When the opportunity arose, he grabbed it in both hands. The 27-year-old is now widely considered as one of the top wicket-keepers in Indian cricket. He’s played 78 first-class matches and 51 List-A games so far, scoring 4283 runs and 1351 runs, respectively.

KS Bharat’s triple century is one of the highlights of his first-class career. He scored a swashbuckling triple-century against Goa in 2015. With that, he set the record for being the first wicket-keeper batsman in Ranji Trophy history to score a triple century.
In the 2014-15 season, he had his best season with the bat, hitting 758 runs at a 54.11 average. His results helped him land a contract with the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League.

For quite some time, KS Bharat has been a regular for the India A squad. In the last five years, he has played various Tests for India A and has nearly 1000 runs to his credit.
In the pink-ball day-night Test against Bangladesh in Kolkata in 2019, KS Bharat was chosen as a cover for Wriddhiman Saha.
