Former New Zealand cricketer Craig Cumming is unhappy with head coach Gary Stead’s allegations against opener Finn Allen, who failed to bat in the recently ended three-game ODI series against India.

The cricketer made his 50-over debut scoring some impressive goals against Ireland and the West Indies last year, but soon found himself in a downward spiral.
“I’m worried about the style of cricketer we’re trying to make. We want to produce Devon Conways, we want to produce Kane Williamsons. Someone who has the craft and can hit, and they have multiple ( skills),” Cumming told SENZ Morning on Thursday. “Finn Allen is young and learning right now, but [he’s] in a really important position for us at the top of the order, and at the moment he seems like a one-tempo, one-line hitter.
“It’s not going well now. Maybe Finn has experience. They should be with him, but he’s not doing enough right now.” Cumming said Allen is a strong ball hitter. As well as Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who has the necessary skills to play properly in any given situation.
“Look at Rohit Sharma and how they (India) play. Sure they are strong, but they are also great in the way they carry out their plans. There’s a baseball-style mentality, where the pace is important with each hit. Trying to hit a home run, that’s all we want.”
