Mosaddek Hossain Bio

Mosaddek Hossain Saikat is a Bangladeshi international cricketer. On December 10, 1995, he was born in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. He is mostly a batting all-rounder. He bats right-handed and bowls from the right side of the wicket.

Over the past six years, he has been playing first-class and List-A cricket in Bangladesh. By the tenth match of the 2014-15 season, he had scored more than 250 runs in consecutive innings and had surpassed 1000 first-class runs. In 2015, he made headlines by becoming the first Bangladeshi batsman to score three double centuries.

Under-19 career

Hossain represented Bangladesh at the ICC Under-19 World Cup in Australia in 2012, as well as in Abu Dhabi in 2013-14. In April 2017, he captained the Under-19 national team in a two-match series against Sri Lanka Under-19.

Following the series against Sri Lanka, he captained the national side in a series of limited-overs cricket matches. Over the course of the five matches in the series, he demonstrated his batting prowess, scoring more than 200 runs. Later that year, he put in an excellent all-around effort against the English Under-19 team, scoring 110 runs off 113 balls and taking three wickets for 38 runs in his ten overs.

Senior Career

He made his first appearance on the Chart. At the age of seventeen, he scored a century in his second ever match for Abahani Limited versus Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club in 2013-14. In the 2013-14 season, he only played one first-class match for Dhaka Division before being picked by the East Zone at the end of the season.

Cricinfo called him one of Bangladesh’s most talented young players following the 2013-14 season, praising his “footwork against spin and ease against pace” as a batsman.

He was a member of the Barisal Division in the 2014-15 National Cricket League. He had a couple of fantastic innings, including two 250-run innings in a row, and he finished the season with a century for South Zone in the Bangladesh Cricket League, bringing him over 1000 runs for the season and his career.

In 2015, he travelled to South Africa and Zimbabwe with Bangladesh-A. With 194 runs in two first-class matches against Zimbabwe A, he was Bangladesh A’s highest run scorer.

He was picked for the Chittagong Vikings squad in the 2018-19 Bangladesh Premier League draught.

International Career

On January 20, 2016, Mosaddek made his Twenty20 International debut for Bangladesh against Zimbabwe. In September of that year, he made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Bangladesh against Afghanistan, becoming the first player in the history of the country to take a wicket with his first delivery in an ODI.

Hossain made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in Bangladesh’s 100th Test match on March 15, 2017. He was named to Bangladesh’s team for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in 2018 and was recently named to the 2019 Cricket World Cup squad.
