Rishabh Pant named Delhi Capitals captain for : IPL 2021

Pant will take over as captain for the 14th edition of the tournament as Shreyas Iyer recovers from a left shoulder injury sustained during the recent India-England ODI series.

Rishabh Pant, a wicketkeeper-batsman, has been appointed captain of the Delhi Capitals for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season, which begins in April 2021. A statement from the franchise confirmed the news on Tuesday.

Pant will take over as captain for the 14th edition of the tournament as Shreyas Iyer recovers from a left shoulder injury sustained during the recent India-England ODI series.

“I wish Shreyas a speedy recovery,” DC Chairman and Co-Owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi said on the occasion. “Under Shreyas’ captaincy, our squad scaled newer heights, and he will be deeply missed.” In his absence, the franchise has chosen Rishabh to be the team’s leader this season. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, it is a fantastic opportunity for him to develop further. I wish him luck in his new position.”

“There is no denying that Shreyas Iyer’s leadership and batting will be missed this year, and we expect to see him back on the field soon,” said team co-owner Parth Jindal. The Delhi team has played an important role in his development as a cricketer, and he has played an equal role in the Delhi team’s development. I wish Rishabh and the rest of the team the best of luck.”

“When I incurred the shoulder injury and the Delhi Capitals wanted a leader for this edition of the IPL, I had no doubt that Rishabh will be the right man for the job,” Shreyas Iyer said. Rishabh Pant commented on his new job, saying, “My IPL journey began six years ago in Delhi, where I grew up. It’s always been a dream of mine to one day lead this group. Rishabh Pant will head the team for the first time in the IPL. The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has previously captained the Delhi state team.
