Fawad Alam of Pakistan has set a new record for unbroken 124 runs in the current 2nd Test against West Indies. Fawad Alam has now scored five century in Test cricket. In his 22nd Test innings, the left-hander hit 5 tonnes.
Fawad Alam beat former Pakistani cricketer Younis Khan’s record of 5 Test tonnes in 28 innings. The only Pakistani batsman to achieve a century at the Sabina Park Cricket Stadium in Jamaica.
He also became the fastest Asian batter to five test century in 22 innings. It took him 24 innings to overtake Cheteshwar Pujara, Sourav Ganguly, and Sunil Gavaskar (25 innings).
Alam scored an unbroken 124 runs off 213 balls before Pakistan declared at 302-9 on Day 2. Fawad Alam’s century was vital for Pakistan, since their top order crumbled against the West Indian bowlers. Opening batsmen Abid Ali and Imran Butt both fell for 1 run, while Azhar Ali went out for a six-ball duck.
With the scoreboard reading 2-3, Babar Azam and Fawad Alam put up a 166 run partnership, with Azam hitting 75 before being bowled by Kemar Roach. Faheem Ashraf then shared 50 runs with Alam, scoring 26 runs himself. While Alam was scoring runs for Pakistan, other players were losing wickets. Captain Babar Azam declared the innings at 302-9.
