Suryakumar was nominated for the highest honor in the men’s category alongside his Cup winner England, all-rounder Sam Karan, Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizuwan and Zimbabwe batting his all-rounder Sikandar Raza.
Pakistani bowling all-rounder Nida Dar, New Zealand’s Sophie Devine and Australia’s Talia McGrath will compete in the women’s division at Mandana.
Suryakumar had a sensational 2022 in the game’s shortest format, becoming only the second batsman to score over 1000 runs in a year in that format.
He finished the year as the top his run-getter, scoring 1164 runs at his rate a ridiculous 187.43. His 68 sixes in a calendar year in T20s is the best record for a player in this format in one year.
Suryakumar’s incredible consistency in the format is reflected in his average hovering in his mid-40s. Year 295, Yadav was the outstanding men’s T20 hitter.
At the T20 World Championships in Australia, he struck out three 50s in six innings, averaging nearly 60 in the tournament with a batting average of 189.68. He continued his stellar year after the tournament, notching his 200th win in his T20 bilateral series in New Zealand that year.
That year, Suryakumar also topped the men’s T20 hitters, recording his career-high 890 rating.
Mandana, who won her ICC Women’s T20 Cricket Player of the Year award last year, has been consistent in her short form.
From her fastest 50 seconds by an Indian woman (only 23 balls) to her breaking the 2500-run mark in the T20, Mandana has been doing well this year. She featured in the Commonwealth Games, the T20 Asian Cup and a memorable five-match home series against Australia towards the end of a productive year.
