Top cricbuzz prediction: New BCCI selection committee to be formed in January 2023

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), led by Ashok Malhotra, has the power to elect a new selection committee and will meet on 30 December. It is a physical meeting at the Indian Cricket Control Board (BCCI) office in Mumbai and also requires a formal introductory exchange between members. Sulakshana Naik and Jatin Paranjpe are other members of the CAC.

The meeting agenda has not been set and there is no information about interviews scheduled for that day. Her recently constituted CAC will have an audience with her BCCI officers to discuss the final selector selection, according to information filtered through BCCI sources. CAC members can also indulge in candidate shortlists as numerous applications have been received by BCCI, including many bogus emails. All applications are assumed to have been duly forwarded to members of her CAC.

Formation of the selection committee may take longer, most likely until the first week of January 2023. Since the roster for the Sri Lanka Series has already been announced, it is believed that there is no immediate need for a selection committee, and in an emergency, a retiring panel could come into play at any time.

As for interviews, CAC members insist that they should be conducted in front of the candidate and not virtually in a remote location. He can tell BCCI the same. BCCI is responsible for arranging travel for shortlisted candidates.

The outgoing committee chairman Chetan Sharma reapplied for the position along with his colleague his Harvinder Singh. No one has completed the four years that a national selector can have. Venkatesh Prasad, S. Sharath, SS Das, Maninder Singh, Mukund Parmar, Nayan Mongia, Salil Ankola and Sameer Dighe are among the many who applied to fill his position in the five zoning.
