Profile
Afghan left-handed batsman Hazratullah Zazai is a rising star who has made significant progress in international cricket. But his domestic career did not get off to a fantastic start. Zazai struggled with the bat in both innings of his first-class debut for Band-e-Amir Region against Mis Ainak Region. Hazratullah Zazai earned his T20I debut against the UAE in 2016 despite the fact that the selectors kept an eye on him due to his quality and potential. Zazai played a passive innings in contrast to his usual aggressive batting style, which prevented him from playing any further T20Is until 2018. When he was 20 years old, he made a return against Ireland and had a series to remember, scoring back-to-back fifties.
Zazai gained a name for himself in the Afghanistan Premier League while representing Kabul Zwanan, where Hazratullah struck six sixes in an over and reached 50 in only 12 balls during a match against Balkh Legends. He joined a select group of cricketers who have scored six sixes in one over, including Yuvraj Singh, Sir Garry Sobers, and others. Zazai ended the season as his team’s leading run scorer.
Even in the international setting, the left-hander maintained his form. Zazai’s 62-ball 162* during Afghanistan’s 2019 series against Ireland in India helped the country achieve their greatest T20I total to that point. Since that time, Zazai has struggled with the bat in both forms. Afghanistan would however expect to profit from his excellent hitting skills given that age is on their favour.
