Harleen Deol was designated as a concussion substitute for India Women’s spinner Sneh Rana in the second innings of their second ODI against Australia. The incident occurred during the first innings when, while fielding at backward point, Rana collided nastily with Pooja Vastrakar, who was stationed at short third, both attempting to collect a cut off Australia batter Beth Mooney’s bat in the 25th over.
While both players winced in pain, Vastrakar recovered sooner and got back on her feet. However, Rana remained on the ground for an extended period, eventually leaving the field with an ice pack on her head. The BCCI released a statement, stating, “Sneh Rana complained of a headache after a collision while fielding during the second ODI against Australia. She has been taken for scans and will not take any further part in the ongoing ODI.”
As a result, Harleen Deol was named as the concussion substitute. Rana had bowled four overs in the Australian innings before the collision with Vastrakar but managed to return to the field and complete her 10-over spell with a solitary success.
