Kane Richardson, an Australian bowler, has claimed that his and Adam Zampa’s failure to sell in this year’s major auction was due to them leaving the Indian Premier League (IPL) season midway last year.
Last season, Zampa and Richardson, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), chose to abandon the IPL midway through the India phase after COVID-19 instances began to rise in India and there were uncertainties about whether Australia would admit any tourists.
“I was more surprised for him than for myself.” To be totally honest, I recall having a talk with him last year when we left early due to the circumstances. But I don’t think I’ll be able to go because of the events in the last couple of IPLs. But it’s not a name I’d like to have.”
