Sri Lanka have recalled Abishka Fernando for her next tour to India, SLC confirmed on Wednesday (December 28). and then was sidelined for a long time due to injury.
However, the talented top-flight batsman recently had a stellar season in his premier league with Ranka scoring the tournament’s highest score, including a man-of-the-match performance in the final. Sadiera Samara Wickrama, who won the Man of the Tournament award as the tournament’s second-highest rung champion, was also called up to the team.
SamaraWickrama made his Sri Lanka debut in 2017 and to date he has competed in 4 Tests, 7 of his ODIs and 9 of his T20Is. Most recently, he played at home against India last year. The dashing wicket-keeper batsman overtook Chandimal in his veteran contender Dinesh in the team.
Unbeaten wanindu Fernando found a spot in the ODI team and Nuwan Thushara was selected to play T20Is after emerging as Sri Lanka’s top bowler in the LPL. His Chamika Karunaratne, who missed the home series against Afghanistan, will return after his impressive LPL.
Wanindu Hasaranga will be appointed vice-captain for his T20I series, while Kusal Mendis will serve as vice-captain for Dasun Shanaka in his ODI. The tour kicks off in Mumbai on his January 3rd.
